About the role:
We are looking for a talented Brand & Creative Lead who has evolved from a strong brand designer into a brand thinker. The ideal candidate is an owner who thrives in a fast-paced environment, leads without ego, and can balance creative excellence with execution, team development, and business priorities.
In this role, you will own how MAKE looks, sounds, and feels across every touchpoint. You will lead our brand identity, creative output, and design team, ensuring consistently high-quality work across all channels while driving brand strategy, narrative, and tone of voice. You'll shape how the team operates and scales, partner closely with teams across the business, and help build a distinctive brand that supports MAKE's growth.
Key Responsibilities:
Own our visual identity and keep the brand consistent across everything we deliver
Be the final quality bar on creative that goes out, making sure everything that ships meets a high standard and feels on-brand
Own our full marketing design output across print, industrial, graphic, motion and sound
Own our design strategy and how the team delivers: project management, getting work shipped on time, and how the team evolves over time
Lead and manage our two designers, growing the team as we need to
Work closely with the wider business, product, growth, partnerships and the launch teams, to deliver the creative behind our campaigns and launches
Be the guardian of our brand narrative and tone of voice, which are already defined, and keep them consistent everywhere
Set the direction for our content and how we tell our story across our channels, including our thought leadership
Help shape how we show up on socials and in our community
Qualifications:
4+ years as a brand designer
You've started moving into the written and strategic side of brand. That could be owning tone of voice, working on thought leadership, shaping messaging, or brand storytelling
A portfolio showing as least 2 full brand or identity projects you led end-to-end (not contributed to )
Strong across the full design spectrum: print, graphic, 3D, motion. And some exposure to industrial and sound
A high creative bar and the judgement to be the final eye on what ships, so everything that goes out feels on-brand and high quality
You can own design strategy and delivery, not just the creative itself. Planning the work, managing projects, getting things shipped on time, and thinking about how the team works and scales
Managed or mentored at least 1 or 2 designers, either as a proper line manager (ideally) or informally as a mentor/functional manager
Comfortable being both strategic and hands-on. You can set the bigger direction and also get do the work
Experience in fast-moving or early-stage places where things aren't fully built yet
A feel for brand strategy. You can think about how the brand is positioned and how people perceive it, not just how it looks
Nice to have Qualifications:
Taken a visual identity from a more rudimentary scrappy experience to being more polished
Experience in the creator industry, or luxury, aspirational brands
Experience building or improving how a design team works, e.g. setting up systems, processes or using AI to move faster
