About the role:

We are looking for a strategic and hands-on Head of Brand & Communications who can shape how MAKE looks, sounds, and is perceived. The ideal candidate is an experienced brand and communications leader who combines strategic thinking with strong execution and thrives in a fast-paced environment.

In this role, you will own MAKE's brand and communications strategy across PR, thought leadership, social, and community. You'll work closely with creative, content, and product teams to build a consistent and differentiated brand, strengthen our media presence, and establish MAKE as a leading voice in the automation and AI space.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Own MAKE’s brand strategy end-to-end — defining how we look, sound, and show up across every touchpoint

  • Lead MAKE’s communications strategy — developing our media relationships, building our PR playbook, and earning coverage that drives awareness and credibility

  • Lead thought leadership for MAKE’s founders and leadership team — developing the content, angles, and narratives that position them as voices in the automation and AI space

  • Oversee our community strategy and social presence, building engaged audiences across key channels

  • Work with the creative, content, and product teams to ensure MAKE has a consistent, compelling, and differentiated presence

  • Shape how MAKE tells its story across channels — website, social, events, partnerships, and press

  • Over time, build and lead a brand and comms team, setting the foundation for how MAKE establishes itself as a category-defining company

Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of experience in brand, communications, or marketing, with at least some of that at a senior level

  • Proven experience owning brand strategy — defining positioning, tone of voice, and how a brand shows up in the world

  • Strong PR and comms background — you know how to build media relationships, pitch stories, and get coverage

  • Experience leading thought leadership programmes, including executive profiling and content strategy

  • Experience in a fast-moving, early-stage or scale-up company where things are still being built

  • Comfortable being both strategic and hands-on — able to set the direction and also get into the work

  • Strong writing skills and an eye for what makes a compelling story

Nice to have Qualifications:

  • Experience in tech, SaaS, or a category-creating brand

  • Existing relationships with tech or business journalists and media contacts

  • Experience building or managing a community (online or in-person)

  • Experience using AI tools to move faster on content or comms
